WESTconsin Credit Union Spreading Kindness with Shop with Fin Lee Fox

WESTERN, WI—WESTconsin Credit Union’s beloved mascot, Fin Lee Fox, has been busy spreading smiles and surprises across the credit union’s service area. Fin Lee recently popped into grocery stores and farmers markets in Menomonie, New Richmond, and Prescott, surprising shoppers with gift cards to help cover a portion of their grocery bills. The Shop with Fin Lee Fox special event is part of WESTconsin’s broader Kindness Counts initiative, aimed at spreading joy and kindness within the credit union’s communities.

To date, over 30 individuals and families have been positively impacted by this unexpected gesture of kindness. With this event, WESTconsin not only gives back to those in the local community, but hopes to showcase that small acts of kindness have the power to create meaningful change and build stronger relationships.

“This event is about more than just picking up a grocery bill, which we know is straining families’ budgets more than ever,” said Jenny Rathke, Vice President – Member Advocacy. “We want to show that whether it's a smile, a helping hand, or paying it forward, every act of kindness counts. Together, we can create a ripple effect of kindness that touches many lives and strengthens our community.”

More surprise visits are scheduled throughout June in additional communities served by WESTconsin Credit Union to continue to spread kindness, one cart at a time.

WESTconsin Credit Union has been serving members since 1939, and membership is open to anyone who lives or works in the Wisconsin counties of Barron, Buffalo, Burnett, Chippewa, Clark, Dunn, Eau Claire, Jackson, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, Rusk, St. Croix, Sawyer, Taylor, Trempealeau, and Washburn, or the Minnesota counties of Anoka, Chisago, Dakota, Goodhue, Hennepin, Isanti, Pine, Ramsey, Scott, Wabasha, and Washington, with a $5 minimum deposit in a Membership Savings Account. Credit unions are financial institutions owned by their accountholders, and member funds are federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) up to at least $250,000.
