In recognition of October as Manufacturing Month, WITC-New Richmond partners with area manufacturers to create its first NW Wisconsin’s Manufacturers Revealed event on Wednesday, October 8, 5-8 pm at WITC-New Richmond. Uniquely, this event will be held simultaneously at all four of WITC’s campuses, New Richmond, Ashland, Rice Lake and Superior.

The event is free and family friendly, with examples of large equipment displayed in WITC’s front parking lot and additional manufacturers in the college’s conference center.

This all-encompassing WITC event reveals “behind the walls” of manufacturers in the respective areas so the public can see the myriad of products and amazing production processes that exist in its own backyard. In addition, guests will learn about the variety of skills employees have and how their jobs impact the community.

“It’s kind of breath-taking to look at the volume and variety of products manufactured in our area,” says Joe Huftel, vice president of WITC technology services and campus administrator. “People simply do not realize the creativity and diversity of the manufacturers that surround us.”

Huftel says, “This event gives people not directly associated with the manufacturing industry the opportunity to ‘open up the roofs’ of these large production facilities and see what they produce and the manufacturing processes involved. Our ultimate goal is to highlight the importance of manufacturing to all other sectors of our economy.”

Manufacturers planning to attend include: Bosch Packaging, Ellicott Dredge Technologies, Federal Foam, Frontier Ag and Turf, Isometric Precision Micro Solutions, McNally, Nexen Group, Nolato Contour, OEM, Phillips Medisize and SMC.

In addition to touring manufacturers’ displays, guests may visit several WITC program labs to see how the technical college’s education and training work hand-in-hand with manufacturers to prepare employees for jobs.

An exclusive feature of this event is that refreshments include craft brews and wines finely crafted in West-Central Wisconsin. The event is cosponsored by WITC, Bernick’s and area chambers of commerce: Baldwin-Woodville, Central St. Croix, Glenwood, Hudson and New Richmond as a featured Business After 5 event.
